Monica Martinez

Monica Martinez serves as Santa Cruz County Supervisor for District 5 and is the first openly LGBTQ+ person elected to County Supervisor in Santa Cruz County’s history. A lifelong public servant and parent of two school-aged children, Monica is focused on making sure people can access the care and support they need to live healthy, stable lives. She has led major health and human services systems and now helps oversee a county budget of over $1 billion, working to protect essential services and expand access to care for more than 260,000 residents. Her leadership is grounded in the belief that everyone deserves to feel safe, seen, and supported, and reflects a broader commitment to strengthening public systems so they work for all communities.
