Legislation

AB 1145 (Garcia)
AB 1145 creates a clear, uniform, and non-discriminatory standard for mandated reporters to follow. Clear and consistent reporting requirements would ensure that reporters are more confident and knowledgeable about what needs to be reported and result in increased safety for our youth. – Sen. Rules

AB 1849 (Low)
AB 1849 would allow K-12 students to take an excused absence from school for the benefit of their mental or behavioral health. It is no secret that LGBTQ youth are up to four times more likely than their peers to attempt suicide, and an estimated 34 percent of LGBTQ students face bullying at school. This bill will help destigmatize discussions of mental health and encourage LGBTQ students to take the time they need to prioritize their mental wellbeing. – Asm. Education

SB 961 (Gonzalez)
SB 961 would prohibit life and disability income insurance companies from denying coverage to HIV-positive individuals solely based on their positive HIV test. -- Sen. Appropriation
